EXAMPLE: LIFTING SUPPORT FOR INTERNAL LOGISTICS - 100 % BREAK-PROOF
The customer had broken a bolt 3 times in the previous years during in-house transportation. A huge problem with expensive semiconductor and high-tech components!
Often a big problem hinges on just a small bolt. That's why we develop load handling attachments or lifting pins with amazing load capacities. The load suspension device shown here has to achieve a life cycle of 16,000 load suspensions. Below you can find out what we do to achieve this - immense! But: It is better to invest once more in new bolts before a "product worth millions" in the seven-figure range falls down once more.
EXAMPLE MOUNTING BOLT: FRITZ AS A PARTNER FOR THE ENTIRE PROCESS
Since the end of 2024, we have been developing and manufacturing locating bolts (M8-M16 fit with 4 screws) on behalf of customers for lifting applications that perform safety-critical functions. The bolts are used as load-bearing connecting elements and must withstand defined nominal loads and overloads in a reproducible and standard-compliant manner.
Due to the safety-relevant function, a purely mathematical design is not sufficient - a complete process is required:
- defined overload test,
- documented acceptance,
- and CE-compliant approval.
Our role. We take over for these mounting bolts:
- the technical implementation based on customer calculations,
- the production-oriented design and manufacture,
- mechanical testing up to the defined overload,
- as well as the acceptance, documentation and CE declaration.
This ensures that every bolt variant is delivered in a reliable, traceable and standard-compliant manner.
Technical requirements
- Nominal load-dependent design per bolt type
- Overload test: 2-fold or 3-fold above the nominal load specification
- Testing is carried out mechanically, not just mathematically
- All standard bolts are additionally tested with nominal load
- CE conformity per tested series
- Special attention is paid to the clear separation of test and series components.
Testing & hedging strategy
For each new stud variant, a separate pair of studs is manufactured exclusively for the overload test. This pair of studs is deliberately scrapped after the overload test to ensure clear differentiation from the series.
Overload test
The overload test is carried out with a modular test weight set: depending on the required test load, existing weights are used or additional test weights are added if new load ranges need to be covered. This modular concept allows:
- reproducible tests,
- Flexible expansion for new bolt types,
- and an economical series production process.
